My experience with this drawing was transformation and how we come into ourselves. I used the butterfly not just as a symbol of growth, but also as a kind of mask or lens something that reveals and hides at the same time. It sits across the eyes because that’s where perception begins, both inward and outward. The contrast between the grayscale portrait and the vivid butterfly is that tension between our inner stillness and the vibrant changes we go through. It's about identity, self-expression and the quiet power in becoming.
